OMDC's
preferred manufacturing client profile would be a manufacturer with
a unique product and limited international sales, whose management
believes that a well-researched and well-defined plan is their best
strategy for entering select international markets. Ideally,
the product should command a large market share in its home marketplace
and currently be exported to, at minimum, a few select foreign markets.
The manufacturer needs to maintain a flexible production base and
have a responsive customer-service mentality that is suited to servicing
the many demands of international customers.
Another
manufacturing client profile would be a company with an innovative
product that is not easily copied. The company may have no prior
international experience, but would have a desire to globalize the
product. The firm should be prepared to obtain patents and/or
trademarks in the markets where they seek distribution, and be flexible
in their approach to a wide range of distribution options.
All
client manufacturer organizations should be prepared to provide
exceptional customer service and support for their project.
In return, OMDC network partners will provide the local, "hands
on" expertise needed to ensure that the clients specific international
business development needs are being met.
